keeping audio clear together

Audio links

Hydrogen Audio, the audio technology enthusiast’s resource – a great place for audio discussion.  Main topics are: audio compression (lossy and lossless), listening tests, software and hardware for playing/archiving of media files, scientific discussion on audio technology; wiki-style knowledgebase on the above topics. Discussion is properly (wisely) organized and moderated.

The Audio Critic is an audio magazine which definitely drops out from mainstream audio periodicals. The main difference is its straight consumer advocacy while reviewing of audio equipment. For the purpose exhaustive laboratory measurements and double-blind listening tests are used. As a result readers get the articles that by no means could be published in other magazines heavily oriented on audio manufacturers and depending on their advertising budgets. One of these articles - “The Ten Biggest Lies in Audio” (from issue No.26, pdf) - could be considered as The Audio Critic’s visit card. Peter Aczel – the magazine’s editor and publisher have to be mentioned specially as he is writing on the subject of audio for 50 years, 30 of them for The Audio Critic. So if you want to know opinion of this old, wise and reputable person, read the magazine. It’s worth it.
